Quarantine has become a strange time for everyone. We are literally living something that our grandkids are going to learn about in school. Being stuck at home, wearing masks and gloves, hoarding toilet paper, and attending Zoom University are all weird things that have become the new norm that we never thought would happen. Being under a stay at home order myself, I have had plenty of time to be bored. Then I realized there are so many things I could be doing to keep my mind occupied, productive even. Here is my list of things to do in quarantine to keep yourself busy!

Check your New Years Resolutions

I don’t know about you guys but I set some New Years resolutions a few months ago that I have NOT held myself to. This is the perfect time to check on yourself and try to make those changes you promised yourself you would make in January. One of my resolutions was to read 12 books throughout the year, which leads me to my next point!

Read

Reading is one of the easiest things to do during quarantine. It helps take your mind off of the chaos ensuing around the world and instead encapsulates you into whatever world you want to be in. I’m currently reading The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur and have Live by Sadie Robertson on deck. So grab a book, get cozy and enjoy a nice reading break.

CREATE

I have never been the creative type, and I still would not consider myself right brained in any way. However, I have taken up painting in the past few weeks. Making art calms me down when I get stressed about my school work or frustrated with the current situation. I’m also moving into a new house soon so the artwork I’ve been doing will be the first few pieces of decor in my new home! I got this great artist kit at Walmart on sale for only $14 that comes with acrylic paint, brushes, oil pastels, TONS of colored pencils, mini canvases, drawing sheets, and more!

Another form of creating is writing. This blog is like therapy to me so being able to write during this crazy time is much needed. Whether you enjoy journaling, painting, sketching, dancing, mixing music, videography, whatever your niche may be, keep doing it! If it’s something you enjoy but tend to put off because it is “too time consuming”, there is no more perfect time than right now because all we have is time. Take the time to do what you love.

Bake

Just like how I’m no artist, I’m also not a baker. But I like eating. So I guess baking is okay considering once I’m done I have a delicious end product (most of the time). Being vegan means that I can’t just buy a box of muffins or cookies from the supermarket whenever I want. If I want a baked good, the majority of the time I have to make it myself. This quarantine has been nice because I have had the chance to bake some yummy treats I haven’t had the liberty to have in a long while. I have a Pinterest board full of vegan, vegetarian, and regular meals, desserts, snack, everything. If it’s food, it’s probably on here. Check it out!

At-home Workouts

I had gotten pretty darn good about going to the gym on a regular basis. I was finally getting into my routine and then suddenly, all the gyms were closed. To counter this, it is important to try to keep up with the routine, especially since you can’t be active outside of your home. There are tons of at-home workout routines on Youtube and Pinterest. Here are some of my favorites!

Self-Care

Who needs self-care Sunday when all the days feel the same? During quarantine, every day can be self-care Sunday. Taking care of yourself is so important during regular life, so it is even more important during these confusing times. This not only includes your physical well-being, but also your mental and spiritual health as well. Go all out! Grab your favorite face, hair, lip, foot, whatever mask, turn on some vibey tunes, light some candles, read a good book or journal or do whatever you do to relax. Download TikTok

TikTok is a entertaining way to pass the time, too much time probably. You can learn fun dances, new and yummy coffee recipes, or simply gain a new addiction. Trust me, once you start, you won’t want to stop. But it’s fun and we all need a little bit of that in our lives right now. If you decide to take the plunge, follow me

Make Vibey Playlists

Music is another wonderful way to keep your mind occupied. Finding new music can be fun and by the end of all this, you could have a whole new taste in music. I like making playlists for different moods, so several of my playlists have “vibes” in the title lol. Hop on your music streaming service and make some vibey playlists or find some if you’d rather discover new music!
